Meet your story’s champion.

A story begins in my mind—a scene, an idea, a character, a splendid title…

Lisa

My first story was about a worm.

I was barely tall enough to reach the kitchen cupboard, but I knew—with all the conviction a ten-year-old could muster—that this was going to be my masterpiece. Armed with a pencil and a spiral notebook, I crafted what I was certain would be the next great American novel. (Spoiler: it wasn't, but that worm had character.)

That pad kicked off a love affair with storytelling that's shaped my entire life. While other kids collected stickers, I hoarded pretty journals and diaries. When my friends were playing kickball in the park, I was sitting in the neighborhood library with a stack of TBRs. Stories weren't just interesting—they were home.

This passion for words led me naturally into my first role as a junior copywriter, where I learned that even product descriptions could tell compelling stories. But my heart yearned for longer narratives, which landed me at a print magazine (yes, back when print was still very much a thing). There, between deadline sprints and late-night editing sessions, I discovered something crucial: I loved shaping stories almost as much as I loved writing them. This revelation propelled me into a senior managing editor role, where I honed my ability to not just polish words, but to nurture and develop entire narratives.

Today, I'm a literary fiction writer and developmental editor, still chasing that same magic I felt when writing about that ambitious little worm. My own manuscripts live in various states of completion on my laptop, each one teaching me something new about the craft. This dual life as both writer and editor gives me a unique perspective on the creative process—I intimately understand both sides of the editorial desk.

I believe that's why writers trust me with their stories. I know what it feels like to pour your heart onto the page and then hand it to someone else, hoping they'll see the diamond beneath the rough. I've been there. I am there.

And that precious story you've been holding close to your heart? The one keeping you up at night? It deserves to shine just as brightly as you imagine it can. Let's uncover its magic together.

This was my first manuscript and my first time working with an editor. I had no idea what I was in for. I think what impressed me most was Lisa’s communication skills, both within the manuscript and with me. She offered a professional yet personal experience. I would definitely use her again.

Before I sent my manuscript to Lisa, I felt like my writing was just... okay. But after her assessment, everything clicked! The changes she suggested took my writing to a whole new level, from a good piece of writing to a deeper, more powerful work. I’m now more confident than ever in my writing.
